Migration and Development
Migration and development are two processes that collectively or individually have played a decisive role in the progress of human civilization, influencing the evolution of countries, societies, economies and institutions, as well as the forces of migration that have collaborated with the nature of the production process and the development process.
In the twenty-first century, migration is no longer a one-way path as the changing geopolitical and geo-economic scenarios and the “growth economy” is fundamentally altering the process, causing the emergence of new strategies and ways of thinking about development.
In this regard, ProDESC seeks to create a support structure that enables and encourages joint work between groups in the United States and Mexico, with common goals in terms of labor rights and social justice. It also seeks to initiate joint projects and actions for the defense and advocacy of human rights, including labor rights and the right to community development, meaning developing fair living conditions in their places of origin.
